Q1.  How Do I Register for Soccer?  (Back to top)

Obtain and complete eligibility/registration form (available after August 1st in the Activities Office).

Have a sports physical form on file in the Activities Office or present one at the time of registration (physical must have taken place within the last 3 years).    You can call the Activities Office at 763-506-6902 to check the date of your physical on file.    (Incoming 9th Graders: You can call the JMS Community Ed Office at 763-506-5312 to see if they have a current physical for you.   Those physicals will be sent to CPHS over the summer.) Sports physical forms are available in the Activities Office or on the CPHS website (click on Forms to Download under Activities).

All required paperwork and fees (see below) must be presented together at the time of registration.

The district uses a sliding fee scale for athletic fees based on free and reduced lunch.  Please check with the Athletics office to see if you qualify for free or reduced sports fees.

Q2.  What do I need to bring to tryouts?  (Back to top)

Your son needs to bring:

1.    Please bring your yellow clearance slip to all tryout and the first week of practice.

2.    Appropriate sized shin guards.

3.    Fully inflated size 5 soccer ball.

4.    Plenty of water!

5.    You will be issued a tryout numbered t-shirt on Monday, this needs   to be worn every day.

Q3.  What happens if my son has to miss a tryout day, or even the tryout week?  (Back to top)

Tryout dates are set approximately 6-9 months ahead of time, please factor this into your social and vacation calendar.   Should your son need to miss a day, please notify the appropriate evaluator/coach immediately.   Wherever possible, your son will be assessed on the portion of tryouts he was able to make.   Should your son need to miss the entire week, your son may be invited to attend a one-day tryout the following week if roster places are available.   This will not be the case if cuts have been made.

For your information, teams are typically formed by Wednesday afternoon.   Training begins Thursday morning.   All JV and Varsity participants will be expected to travel with the squad out-of-state from Friday morning through Sunday evening at the end of the tryout week.

Q4.  Can my 8th grade son play tryout / play for Champlin Park High School ?  (Back to top)

Sorry, NO.

Q5.  Coach what should I be doing to prepare for High School soccer?  (Back to top)
